UHURU CARD “Enables you”
Is savings account which uses bank ID namely Uhuru Card. Uhuru Card enables a client to draw money from ATMs, purchase items or receive services from Merchants which accept Uhuru Card/Tan Pay using the machine (POS). This service is only provided by Tanzania Postal Bank. It is not available at TPB agency, that is Tanzania Postal Corporation (TPC).
Uhuru card has the following advantages
• It is connected to the TPB net work, therefore one may access bank services any time , i.e 24 hours through Automatic Teller Machines (ATM).
• Minimum opening balance which enables you to receive Uhuru Card is 20,000 only. 5,000 shillings is the minimum balance in the account.
• Interest earning balance from 50,000 shillings and above.
• It enables the client to send money to any TPB branch in Tanzania through the fastest means by using Electronic Money Transfer Form.
Requirements
• 3 recent passport size photography.
• Employee’s Identity Card/Voter’s Identity Card and an Introduction letter from employer or Ward Executive Officer with a stamped passport size
photograph attached on it, or upon being introduced by a recognized TPB client.
• Must have the minimum opening balance not less than 20,000 shillings.
• Must fill in account opening forms and application for Uhuru Card form and fill in other relevant documents for bank records.
TRANSFERING MONEY THROUGH TPB NETWORK
Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) “The Solution for Sending your Money”
• It is the fastest means of sending money. It takes very short time for delivery
• It is safe and reliable. You don’t have to carry large amount of money when traveling because the money will arrive to your destination before you.
• Much freedom and wider network. You may collect your money at any TPB branch in the Mainland or Zanzibar.
• It is easy to use. You don’t need to have Tanzania Postal Bank account
How to use it
• Go to any Tanzania Postal Bank branch.
• You will be issued with an Application Form which will fill in.
• Give it to the Cashier at the Counter as well as amount of money you wish to send and a small amount of service charge.
• Inform the recipient the amount of money you have sent, the branch from which the money will be collected and the Secret Security question he/she will be asked when collecting the money.
If the recipient has a Tanzania Postal Bank account, the money will be directly deposited to it.
