On 5th May 2008 the new Shinyanga branch was officially
inaugurated. The event was officiated by the RC of
Shinyanga Region, Brigadier General Yohana Balele.
During the days preceding the event, road shows were
done for three days and promotional banners were used
as marketing tools. The bank was able to get satisfactory
media coverage, whereby three television stations
(ITV, Star TV and Channel 10) covered the event.
On the side of press media, the event was covered
by Mwananchi, Mtanzania, Majira, Uhuru and Nipashe
newspapers while the local radio station,Faraja
FM announced the event. Looking at the deposits trends,
the day before the launch event the branch had total
deposits of Tshs.674,441,849/- (as at close of April
2008) and the position as at 31st May 2008 was Tshs.697,249,186/-,
having grown by 3.4%

Launch
of Uwezeshaji Scheme in Iringa Region
Contemporarily,
the bank launched the government’s ‘Uwezeshaji Programme’
in Kilolo and Ilula Districts of Iringa and Mbeya
Regions respectively. On 23rd May 2008 a cheque for
Tshs.62.2 million was presented to Mazombe Saccos
in Kilolo district, Iringa and on 26th May 2008 two
cheques for Tshs.24,715,000/- and Tshs.30,450,000/-
were presented to Mkombozi Tembela Saccos and Muungano
Mshewe in Mbeya Rural district respectively.
